Abstract

In this paper, a spongy micro-nanostructure with large surface area was prepared on Ti surface by the combination of two electrochemical methods, micro-arc oxidation (MAO) and anodic oxidation (ANO). ANO treatment superimposed nanotublar structure on the micro-structured surface induced by MAO treatment, and during the formation of the micro-nanostructure, acid etching had important role. Compared to the single microstructure and nanostructure, the micro-nanostructure showed improved biological property and photocatalytic property, which was attributed to its large surface area. This finding may have significant implications in the fabrication of biomedical implants or the environment remediation.
