Abstract

Language competency skills are the foundation of thinking, learning, and social interaction. Professionals, families, and societies take language skills for granted and infrequently recognize deficits. Attendees will develop: 1) improved awareness of language disorders and the role in developing emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs); 2) enhanced competence to identify receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language deficits (LDs) and engage in preventive efforts; 3) greater familiarity with the neurobiological basis of language and associated learning disorders; and 4) improved ability to formulate relevant cases with the range of LDs.
