Abstract
This chapter introduces the emergent field of health communication in Russia. Conceptualizing health communication as a process shaping health knowledge production, thechapter situates the practices and meanings of health communication in contemporary Russia. Understanding health as a bio-social, psycho-political, and techno-affective composition, this chapter offers a perspective on health communication as a society-building set of practices, reinforcing or mutating relational hierarchies. In favor of such perspective, this chapter describes the situation within which health as a concept and as a part of lifeline is being produced and communicated in contemporary Russia. It locates Russian health communication within the larger health communication field. It traces the development of health communication after the dissolution of Soviet Union, and it describes the new intuitive ecosystem of health communication currently emerging in Russia.
