Abstract
Shanghai is a developing industrial city. At present, Shanghai is developing its new Pudong area, opening to the world and becoming a multi‐functional city. During the last ten years, Shanghai's communications development has been soaring. Electronic media has become a part of every family. The means of transportation and communication have made speedy improvement and enhanced international co‐operation of Shanghai with other countries. The spread of television is playing an important role in the cultural changes of the city. The ‘Hai style’ culture, born in the open environment, is inclusive, attractive, and beneficial to both economic and communications development.
