Abstract

Safety of industrial plants can be improved by making the safety aspects explicit during the design and operational phase of the plant. In this paper. the use of Multilevel Flow Modelling to capture and represent the safety-related information is proposed. In essence. this implies introducing a shared conceptual model to the designers of the various disciplines. Furthermore. an approach for consistently conveying this information to the operators through novel display hierarchies. alarm systems. and on-line documentation is presented.
