Abstract

Abstract As early as three decades ago, management research and writing identified communications as a key component of effective organizational transformation. Throughout strategic transformation efforts, management need to provide effective communications so that rumors are not the main source of information. Unfortunately, however, ineffective strategic communications seem to be the rule rather than the norm. Thus, this chapter presents the best practices, potential pitfalls, tools, and templates for planning and delivering effective organizational change communications, including the top ten reported reasons strategic communications are often ineffective, a four-phase strategic communications process, and a communications planning matrix for management to build a comprehensive strategic transformation communications plan.
