Abstract

A relationship is obtained between the performance parameters of a blade ring of an axial wind turbine and corresponding ones of a normal stage of a zero reaction axial gas turbine. This has been achieved by recognizing and using mean axial velocity as a common parameter for defining the characteristic specific speed for the two types of turbines. Then on the basis of a constant value of the axial interference factor of 1/3, expressions for wind turbine power coefficient, tangential interference factor, and the relative outlet flow angle are obtained.
