Abstract

In the American Communist theoretical publication Political Affairs for November 1954, Tim Buck, the leading Canadian Communist, writes about the people of the USSR: "Their personal ambitions and the methods by which they seek to achieve them, reflect already the fact that there is no capitalist class in the Soviet Union." And again: "When they directly and naturally identify themselves completely with the achievements of the collective, see its gains as gains for themselves, and have no thought of gain excepting as part of the collective, they are indeed people of a new type—socialist people."
