Abstract
Slapped cheek syndrome is a common childhood illness that around 50–60% of the population have had at some point in their lifetime. While the symptoms are usually mild and do not require medical intervention, the illness can be dangerous to pregnant women, the immunocompromised and children with hereditary anaemia.
