Abstract

Data from tests with cattle treated with commercially-available animal systemic insecticides to control Hypoderma lineattun (de Villers) were analyzed by log probit. Label-recommended dosages for a spray of coumaphos, spray or pouron of phosmet, and spray of trichlorfon exceeded the calculated LD90 dosages. Thus, these treatments, if properly applied, should provide >90% control of cattle grubs. Methoprene in drinking water of cattle at 0.05––1.0 ppm for 7 months did not prevent cattle grubs from encapsulating in the backs of the treated animals but prevented adults from eclosing from pupae collected from treated cattle.
