Abstract

The members of this Committee are: Carl B. Brown, Soil Conservation Service, Washington, D.C.; C. S. Howard, United States Geological Survey, Washington, D.C.; Tom C. Mead, United States Bureau of Reclamation, Boulder City, Nevada; M. R. Miller, Agricultural Experiment Station, University of Nevada, Reno, Nevada; Dr. A. H. Wiebe, Tennessee Valley Authority, Norris, Tennessee; Professor Joseph Kittredge, Jr., University of California, Berkeley, California; Dr. Thomas C. Adams (Chairman), University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.Appointments to the Committee were made February 16, 1940. It was directed to handle non‐biological problems of limnology. Although much work has been done along this line, work which has very substantial scientific as well as immediately applicable value, the field of physical limnology has not been generally recognized as a separate one. Therefore, the Committee has been obliged to give more than usual consideration to its field of activity, and in the month intervening since its organization, has conducted correspondence between members with this in view.
