Abstract

Protomyobia onoi, n. sp., is described from Sorex araneus and S. unguiculatus from Eurasia. P. onoi is most closely allied to the Holarctic P. claparedei. It is suggested, on the basis of the occurrence of these myobiid mites, that the shrews Sorex cinereus and S. arcticus are the most recent soricid arrivals from the Old World.
