Abstract

Two of the major factors in reducing industrial injuries and diseases include motivation and monitoring of effectiveness. A comparison of these factors in published proceedings of an IABSE Workshop in Japan, particularly as they relate to Japan vs. Ontario, is presented in this article.Carefully planned involvement of those commissioning construction can reduce the enormous $1 billion actuarial deficit for compensation in the construction industry of Ontario.
