Abstract

Earlier results by van Vliet (collective approach) and by Lauritzen (corpuscular approach) for the generation-recombination current noise in the space-charge region of a p- n junction are discussed. It is shown that the noise caused by generation-recombination processes in the space-charge region can be described well by the corpuscular approach, including the properly formulated Ramo's theorem. These results are more general than those obtained in the collective method with the adiabatic approximation.
