Abstract

In response to the comments on the preceding paper by Monkhorst on our original paper on self-consistent pair-correlation theory, we regret the existence of an inaccuracy in the exposition of our theory, and of some other discussions in our paper that were not too explicit. These points are clarified, and in particular it is shown explicity that our correlation parameters, if evaluated using a more complete theory, do in fact cancel the divergence in the inverse of the density of states that appears in the Hartree-Fock theory. The practicability of our procedure for Bloch electrons in real metals is emphasized.
