Abstract

In the very nice paper by Hughett (1998) a result is given to the effect that a discrete-time time-invariant linear input–output map defined on the set of bounded inputs on the integers has an absolutely-convergent convolution representation if and only if the map is semilocal in a certain sense. One purpose of this note is to briefly direct attention to earlier more-general results along these lines that address multivariable system maps that are not necessarily shift-invariant. Another purpose is direct attention to closely related material concerning continuous-time and continuous-space systems.
