Abstract

In the comments, energy consumption for H2 production and CO2 fixation are balanced to evaluate the validity of a ‘novel’ electrocoagulation defluoridation process, which was addressed to have a potential to simultaneously reduce CO2 emission and generate energy (CH4). After the balance calculation, it becomes clear that the proposed process seems unreasonable in energy balance. On the contrary, the process is an energy-intensive system, associated with a net CO2 emission.
