Abstract

Today, thanks in great part to advances in Operations Research and Management Science, the mathematical coverage in an Industrial Engineering program matches or exceeds that of just about any other engineering discipline; I no longer have an inferiority complex. Rather than trying to pass off all of my work as OR/MS. I take pride that much of it is Industrial Engineering but still of interest to Operations Research and Management Science practitioners. If the educational institutions and the journals would recognize the complementary nature of theory and practice and the importance of both, maybe the fighting over turf and titles can be stopped and the common goals pursued.
