Abstract

Professor Newton maintains that the highest form of leadership in business has as its primary aim to develop the autonomy of employees. These comments identify two problems with the above thesis. One problem has to do with the philosophical analysis Professor Newton presents to support her view that business leadership in its highest form seeks to develop the autonomy of employees. The other problem emerges when one critically examines her thesis itself, apart from the theoretical argument in its behalf.
