Abstract
Molnar, Freedman & Shih (1979) recently studied the lengths of intermediate and deep seismic zones and the dependence on convergence rate, lithospheric thickness and age of the lithosphere. In their paper reference is made to Vlaar & Wortel (1976), in which the role of lithospheric age in the subduction process is investigated. I would like to comment on a few points in their paper which are related to our work:
