Abstract

AbstractA few comments on the study “Identification of micro‐failure processes of HDPE‐henequen fiber composite material by using acoustic emission monitoring: Effect of fiber surface modification,” have been argued in this research article. These comments are mostly focused on the method exploited for fracture toughness assessment. The fracture toughness of all compounds was utilized via essential work of fracture (EWF), but several specimens did not consider the EWF prerequisites. These requirements are that the ligament shall be fully yielded previous to the onset of crack growth and the fracture takes place under plane‐stress circumstances. Consequently, the data that the writers acquired are questionable.
