Abstract

Amongst the many controversies in hypospadias management, small glans width (GW) can lead to complication development and dictate surgical technique. This large study of over 1000 hypospadias patients operated on over a 3-year span measured a mean GW of 14 mm (IQR 13–15 mm) [1]. Not surprisingly there was a corresponding decrease in GW with increasing severity of hypospadias (11.1 mm in perineal patients). Even though the mean width across all severities was 14 mm, the authors defined a “small glans” as < 14 mm.
