Abstract

The Editorial by Giles Boland is both timely and wise.1 Prompted by the recent launch of EBay-style online auctions of teleradiology reporting to the lowest bidder by www.telerays.com, he offers astute analysis and advice that needs to be urgently followed by British radiologists. The global financial crisis puts governments and insurers under unprecedented pressures to cut costs. Boland refers to Tom Friedman who correctly observed that the 21st century world is indeed “flat”.2 We now have competitors in India whose housing costs are 10% of those in the UK.
