Abstract

I read with interest the clinical studies outlined by the article entitled “Synergic Effect of Botulinum Toxin Type A and Triamcinolone Alleviates Scar Pruritus by Modulating Epidermal Hyperinnervation: A Preliminary Report” 1 and congratulate the authors on this very important addition to the medical literature and to the readers of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. It is an important clinical paper that clearly shows the benefits of combining triamcinolone acetonide with botulinum toxin type A in the treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids, helping to reduce associated symptoms of pain and itch. The authors are to be commended on not only studying their premise on human volunteers but taking things one step further and performing very interesting and appropriate animal studies to confirm their results.
