Abstract

In the article “Multimodal structural analysis of the human aorta: from valve to bifurcation”, Liyanage et al. assessed the relevance of the site specific structural composition of elastin and collagen for aortic degeneration, aneurysm formation, and dissection in different aortic segments.1 This cohort of 14 individuals had similar percentages of elastin and collagen from aortic root to suprarenal level. Similar insights have been published before, yet most of these were obtained from animal studies.
