Abstract
“How could I apply this information?” Challenge has been developed as an adjunct to the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-66) to assess gross motor function in children and youth with cerebral palsy who have limitations in advanced motor skills (Gross Motor Function Classification System, level I). This article provides clinicians with a unique look into the rigorous, multistep process of test development allowing for conversations between clinicians and test developers during this refinement process. “What should I be mindful about when applying this information?” Clinicians must be mindful that the time/distance cut-points derived from the performance of children with typical development will be further refined through Rasch scaling with a large multicenter sample of children with cerebral palsy. Therefore, although the test items may remain the same, the cutoff points will likely change after the Rasch scaling.
