Abstract

Congratulations to the authors with their study on the nipple-areola complex (NAC) perfusion post-augmentation.1 Despite the limited information available regarding the initial surgical technique, their research is of significant importance and we need to note their results. The main sources of the blood supply to the breast are the internal thoracic, lateral thoracic, anterior intercostal, and acromio-thoracic arteries. Branches from the anterior intercostal artery were sacrificed in the initial augmentation procedure and this resulted in a delay phenomenon of the branches coming from the internal thoracic and lateral thoracic arteries.
