Abstract

In the paper Burnout and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner: Who is Experiencing Burnout and Why? in this edition of the Journal of Emergency Nursing (JEN), Zelman et al1 examine the frequency of burnout and its accompanying features among sexual assault nurse examiners (SANEs) in North Carolina using the Maslach Burnout Inventory scale. The authors’ cross-sectional study provides the field of forensic nursing with essential knowledge and contextual understanding of burnout among SANEs working within forensic programs and those working in emergency departments of varying sizes, including some located in rural areas.
