Abstract

The FIGO staging of endometrial cancer (EC) was updated in 2023. This includes updated anatomical information about the tumour (including classifying myometrial invasion into none, superficial and deep and the concept of subserosal invasion) and incorporates histological and molecular features of the tumour into the staging system. This update will profoundly change assessment and management of EC, with a welcome move to personalised care and targeted treatment according to tumour type and prognosis. Some of this information is, however, unlikely to be available at the time of pre-operative radiological assessment. As such, in many cases, radiologists will no longer be able to assign a reliable provisional stage based on imaging alone. This article, written by members of the ******* committee, summarises the changes to the staging system and how they impact on radiological practice. A suggested approach to imaging selection and reporting is presented.
