Abstract
I read with interest the report on “Trends in Early Postoperative Major Adverse Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Events Associated with Bariatric Surgery: An Analysis of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Data Registry” by Valera et al. [1]. They performed a retrospective analysis of the MBSAQIP data registry for bariatric patients operated and enumerated MACCE (major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events). Of 752,722 patients, almost three quarters experienced a sleeve gastrectomy and one quarter a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB).
