Abstract

The interpretation of thermal conductivity measurements on ${\mathrm{YBa}}_{2}({\mathrm{Cu}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Zn}}_{x}{)}_{3}{\mathrm{O}}_{7\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\delta}}$ by Houssa, Ausloos, and Cloots [Phys. Rev. B 56, 6226 (1997)] in terms of Zn substitution leading to electron doping and a concomitant shift in the Fermi level away from a van Hove singularity peak in the density of states is shown to be inconsistent with the wider body of experimental data.
