Abstract
I read with interest the article entitled, “Single-anastomosis duodenoileal bypass with sleeve in the United States: a first comparative safety analysis of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program database” by Clapp et al. [1], in which the 2020 Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) database was used to probe single-anastomosis duodenoileal bypass with sleeve (SADI-S) outcomes. The interesting feature is the application of a 5:1 propensity matched analysis (PMA), which assessed SADI-S to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG), and a 2:1 PMA to duodenal switch (DS) [1].
