Abstract
Pugh (1977) has presented a model for assessing the effects of the environment on subjective judgments about that environment. Both the computational procedures proposed by Pugh (1977) and their interpretation are criticized here. An analysis of covariance model is suggested as an alternative approach to the assessment of environmental effects.
