Abstract

The assumption that the zero-pressure volume in the high-pressure phase is infinity was taken by Sata et al. [Phys. Rev. B 65, 104114 (2002)] for the derivation of the modified universal equation of state (EOS) with a nonzero-pressure reference point. It is pointed out that this assumption is not necessary, and the universal EOS with a nonzero-pressure reference point derived fully from the universal potential is presented in the paper. It is reasonable to think that the universal EOS in the form given here is more suitable for the analysis of the experimental data of the high-pressure $B2$ phase of NaCl.
