Abstract
Abstract : The purpose of the present note is to point out a computational error in a paper on the thermodynamics of the gold-platinum system by van der Toorn and Tiedema. It is also shown that the method used by these authors for calculating the free-energy curve from the phase diagram is, in any case, unreliable because of its extreme sensitivity to small shifts in the position of the phase boundaries.
