Abstract

R-(—) and S-(+)-2-phenylpropionic acids exhibit equivalent reactivity toward the excited state of 4-methyl-2-quinolinecarbonitrile in acetonitirle. No significant magnetic field effects were observed upon the relative quantum yield for photochemical reactions between the quinolinecarbonitrile with the optically active 2-phenylpropionic acids in benzene. No unusual phenomena were observed under well controlled conditions with sufficient repetitions.
