Abstract

We were intrigued by the soil erosion modeling conducted by Shi et al. (2021) on post-mining areas in China. However, we discovered that the authors employed an incorrect empirical equation to calculate the rainfall erosivity factor, which resulted in a severe underestimation of the true rate of soil erosion. We presented our findings and discussed a possible source for the true equation.
