Abstract

We consider the well-known cases of strong isospin mixing in8Be,12C, and16O. We show that, contrary to some previous claims which invoke the need for a charge symmetry breaking nuclear interaction, (i) the isospin mixing matrix elements can be explained by the Coulomb interaction alone and (ii) contributions from charge symmetry breaking nuclear interactions are small.
