Abstract

Abstract In a recent paper [J. Alloys Compd. 817 (2020) 152711] Alasvand and Kafashan have studied the physical properties of the electrodeposited CdSe thin films. As shown in this comment, the authors have used two wrong equations to calculate the absorption coefficient, α, and refractive index, n, of the samples. Consequently, the rest of the calculated parameters based on the α and n such as optical band gap, extinction coefficient, complex dielectric constant, dissipation factor and evaluated dispersion parameters using the Wemple-DiDomenico single oscillator model and Walton-Moss model, are erroneous.
