Abstract

Congratulations to Sans et al. on choosing an interesting and complex topic that can affect patients’ selection for sleeve gastrectomy (SG) with pre-existing esophageal motor disorder (EMD) [1]. The authors started with 37 patients in 5 subgroups and ended up evaluating 16 patients in 4 subgroups who had data from pre- and postoperative high-resolution manometry (HRM) studies. The statistical analysis was only done on the 16 patients. The authors concluded that SG worsens gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and EMD symptoms.
