Abstract

Abstract We note that in the six-quark model the CP violating dilepton asymmetry in semileptonic B 0 - B 0 decays can be significant only if the non-zero value of the charm quark mass plays an important role in the B 0 - B 0 width or mass transition matrix elements. The annihilation diagram, which has been proposed as a source of the difference between the charged and neutral D meson lifetimes, is considered. We show that this diagram does not contribute to the B 0 - B 0 width transition matrix element because of a helicity mismatch.
