Abstract

Approximately 35% of adults >65 years of age are obese in the United States. Considering that the life expectancy continues to steadily increase, it is not surprising how more geriatric patients present to our clinics inquiring about bariatric surgery. But is bariatric surgery safe in older individuals? If so, which is the safest and most appropriate procedure to perform?
