Abstract

ABSTRACT Agnolín et al. (2024) (Hereafter A24) report on a Late Cretaceous lepidosaur assemblage from southern Patagonia. The fossils described by A24 are noteworthy as they extend the record of lepidosaurs from southern Patagonia and as such deserve a detailed study. However, we find several issues in the descriptions and consider most of their taxonomic assignments to be unsupported by the data, which in turn makes their faunistic interpretations to be seriously flawed. Here, we would like to comment on some of the major inconsistencies and misstatements that we have found in the work of A24 in order to prevent wrong faunal lists and biogeographic considerations.
