Abstract

The primary concern of this research is to examine the problem of the application of memorial culture in the course of socialization of educational migrants, who study in Ukraine. The point is made that socialization takes place in the context of cross-cultural communication; therefore it gets the character of acculturation.Research methodology is based on the principles of system approach, which contributes to a comprehensive insight of changes within culture that are caused by intensive development of modern society. Phenomenological method makes it possible to consider the socialization of educational migrants as a phenomenon of modern culture. Hermeneutic approach makes it possible to interpret the social meanings inherent in the course of socialization.Results. The socialization of educational migrants in socio-cultural space of modern Ukraine is divided into three stages (social adaptation, social integration, social individualization), each having its own specific character. Socio-pedagogical guidance is a kind of socio-pedagogical activity, an efficient instrument, which is aimed at creating the favorable conditions for the successful socialization of educational migrants.The special role of the lieux de memoire theory and commemoration of P. Nora is highlighted. The particular role of regional commemorative practices in the course of socialization of educational migrants is stressed.Novelty. The lieux de memoire are the points of critical importance which socio-cultural identity is forming around. The lieux de memoire are the basis of commemorative practices. They play the role of important methodological sub-structure for the elaboration of the techniques of socio-pedagogical guidance.The practical significance. This technique is an important instrument of efficient communication with the representatives of Ukrainian socio-cultural space, which enables educational migrants to adequate perception of the values and traditions of Ukrainian culture.
