Abstract

From October 2005, The Lancet Neurology will publish original clinical research. By expanding the journal to include high-quality primary-research articles, especially clinical trials, The Lancet Neurology will move to the heart of key developments in clinical neurology. The existing format of news, comment, review, and opinion will remain unchanged so the journal will continue to provide you with a comprehensive monthly overview of the most recent developments in neurology. From July 4, the journal will accept primary-research submissions in any area of clinical or translational neurology that have the potential to influence clinical practice: we will be unable to consider primary-research submissions before this date. All submissions judged eligible by the journal's editorial team will be fast-track peer reviewed within 72 h. If accepted, an article will be published within 4–8 weeks. Accepted articles will be published online before appearing in the monthly print journal. From the October 2005 issue, a third section—Primary Research (red)—will be added to the journal's existing format of Analysis & Interpretation (blue) and Review & Opinion (green). The addition of extra pages every month will give the journal even greater capability to provide comprehensive coverage of clinical neurology. Our fast-track peer review for original research will provide a competitive service for authors who wish to rapidly communicate their research findings to the worldwide neurology community. Updated Information for Authors can be found at the back of this issue and online on our recently redesigned website.
