Abstract

The library of the future will not only continue to play a role in preserving knowledge, culture and art, but will be central in facilitating interactions and exchanges of many more things in an open, accessible, participatory, and sustainable way. The library is going to configure itself as a community hub, as well as an information hub, providing access to necessary resources for reference and for learning through sharing and collaboration. In this scenario, research studies on organizational and management issues are needed and could give great opportunities for innovation. The collaboration amongst libraries, network of libraries and Universita Milano-Bicocca for the establishment of an observatory for innovation and organizational development of libraries could be the answer to that need.
