Abstract

The burning rate of residual carbon particles generated from the spray combustion flame of heavy fuel oil droplets has been investigated experimentally. The rate of combustion of a single particle and of a cloud of particles, and the processes of their combustion, have been analysed by electronic computer; the actual particle temperature has been taken into account. The theoretical results agree with the experimental results in their trend (Figs. 7, 10).
