Abstract

An improved bidimensional finite-difference time-domain (2D FDTD) method has been achieved in order to compute all electromagnetic fields in heterogeneous media when planar microstripmicroslot applicators are used for microwave hyperthermia. This method consists of combining 2D FDTD and classical spectral domain approach (SDA). Good agreements are exhibited with classical SDA, thus allowing the study of inhomogeneous media. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
