Abstract

While the majority of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia have an acceptable improvement with classical anti-psychotics, it is observed that about 20% have resistance to treatment. Dual oral antipsychotic treatment may be used in patients who are resistant to treatment and the rates of use of this treatment regimen are increasing day by day. Although treatment guidelines do not recommend polypharmacy in antipsychotics in routine practice, they re-commend it for a short time after clozapine or when switching from one antipsychotic to another antipsychotic. Dual antipsychotic treatment is frequently used in the treatment of schizophrenia, whereas the use of dual depot anti-psychotics is not preferred in clinical practice. In this article, we present a case of schizophrenia treated with the combination of paliperidone and zuclopenthixol depot forms.
