Abstract

Valproic acid is frequently given to individuals who suffer from a variety of psychological and neurological conditions, including bipolar disorder, manic-depressive psychosis, major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and epilepsy. Because of its narrow therapeutic spectrum, it is one of agents that frequently cause toxicological emergencies. This case presents an adult patient who had valproic acid overdose, required intubation, hemodialysis, and concurrent treatment with carbapenem group antibiotics.
